Dr Kamand Kojouri is an Assistant Professor of English at the American University in Dubai and a Fellow of the Emirates Literature Foundation. She holds an MA and a PhD in Creative Writing from the United Kingdom, where her work was shortlisted for the Peters Fraser + Dunlop Award. In 2024, her short story "Felix" was shortlisted for the prestigious Rhys Davies National Short Story Prize. Kamand’s work spans multiple genres and has been featured in leading international publications, including the BBC, El País, and The Irish Times. Her first poetry collection, The Eternal Dance: Love Poetry and Prose, was published in March 2018. This was followed by God, Does Humanity Exist? in March 2020. All royalties from her books are donated to nonprofit organisations that support children living in poverty or hardship. With every book sold, Kamand funds the planting of a tree in Sub-Saharan Africa. This initiative helps provide families with food, income, and sustainable livelihoods. To date, more than 4,100 trees have been planted.
