Marcia Naomi Berger (nee Fisch), MSW, LCSW, received her MSW from the University of Michigan School of Social Work and then worked for the city and county of San Francisco in child welfare, alcoholism, and psychiatric settings. She served on the clinical faculty of the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine, and as executive director of Jewish Family and Children's Services of the East Bay, Oakland, California. Currently, she is in private practice in a lovely and relaxing office in San Rafael, California, where she combines real-life experience with clinical expertise to relieve clients of distressing symptoms and help them achieve greater self-awareness, self-esteem, and a sense of purpose and meaning in their lives. Married for over 30 years with a 26-year-old son, she and her husband David have been holding weekly marriage meetings since their first year of marriage. She says, "I treasure our time to reconnect every week. We express appreciation, coordinate chores, plan dates, and talk about any concern. Our meetings provide closure, which means no grudges. Berger leads marriage meeting workshops for couples, teaches continuing education classes for therapists, and is a popular speaker at conferences and retreats. She has been interviewed on radio stations throughout the USA. Berger's mission is to help couples everywhere create the relationship they've always wanted - a union that fosters the emotional and spiritual growth of both partners and lasts a lifetime.
