Michael “Mike” Cohen is a neurotechnologist and brain educator who has spent nearly three decades studying how the brain works — and how to help it work better. His path into the field began with a family crisis. His father suffered from severe, treatment-resistant depression. After medications, psychotherapy, dietary changes, and even electroconvulsive therapy failed, neurofeedback produced a dramatic shift. That experience changed the direction of Mike’s life. He left a successful high-tech career in 1996 to devote himself to advancing brain-based self-regulation technologies. Since then, he has helped thousands of children and adults struggling with ADHD, anxiety, trauma, sleep disorders, concussion, depression, and cognitive decline. He has also trained more than 3,000 health professionals, including physicians and mental health providers, in neurofeedback and brain regulation. Mike is the founder of the Center for Brain Training and the author of Neurofeedback 101 and The Mind Rewired. Both books were written to expand awareness of a powerful truth: the brain is far more capable of change than most people, and most professionals, realize. Often calling himself a “Brain Geek,” Mike draws on research across neuroscience, integrative medicine, nutrition, environmental health, and the gut-brain connection. He believes neurotechnology is most powerful when combined with a broad, systems-level understanding of brain and nervous system health. His mission is simple: to make neurotechnology understandable, accessible, and impossible to ignore.
