I'm Mike, an author based in Gloucester, in the heart of the English countryside — which is convenient, because I spend a lot of my time thinking about other worlds entirely. By day I work as a technical manager, which mostly involves keeping things running smoothly and pretending I have all the answers. By night (and at weekends, and probably during lunch) I write fiction. At home there's Steph, my wife and most trusted first reader, four kids who keep life wonderfully chaotic, a dog, and two cats who remain entirely unimpressed by any of it. When I'm not writing, you'll find me out walking the hills around Gloucester, cheering on Gloucester Rugby, or gathered around a table with good friends, bad dice rolls, and a board game or RPG that was definitely going to be finished in one sitting. It never is. Nobody minds. That love of collaborative storytelling and tabletop adventure isn't accidental — it's baked into the Calambrian Adventures, and it's part of why those books feel the way they do. I came to writing because I wanted stories that did two things at once: told a cracking adventure and made you feel something along the way. The Calambrian Adventures started that journey, and the Ministry of Echoes is where it's heading next. If you like your fiction with a bit of depth, a bit of mystery, and the occasional reality-bending twist — we're going to get on just fine.
