IT ALL STARTED WITH A BEATLES ALBUM... From the moment I lowered the needle onto my first vinyl record (“Rubber Soul” The Beatles) one question stirred and remained for decades. “What really happens when music crawls inside our heads?” I’m not a musician. I don’t sing or play an instrument. My careers have been rich and varied: teacher of special education, director for non-profits, conflict resolution consultant for Peter Yarrow’s national Operation Respect program, and later serving as a mediator for the District Attorney Office. All the while, the music continued to play in my life. I gave up the Criminal Justice System when the music question became too loud to ignore. My research began to discover such important things as why Chopin Prelude in C Minor actually lifts my spirits. Go figure. Fifty years after that first Beatles album, I finally uncovered it has everything to do with….the ARCHETYPE that’s currently running our life show, AND then we choose the music that matches its FREQUENCY. Yep. That partnership causes you to reach for that certain song. My work calls you to discover how your playlists are linked to your state of mind, your health, even how you respond to that odd person in the next cubicle. I can guide you in answering that call. When I’m not uncovering the soundtrack of people’s lives, you can find me in my writing studio burning the midnight oil on a screenplay, kayaking on a mountain reservoir, or hiking in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. May 2019, I answered “yes” (following a clear “no”) to an unexpected calling. I packed up forty years of past injuries, my doubts, and my inner rebel’s determination, and left for Spain to walk the 500 miles of the Camino de Santiago. Alone. I returned to the US with the need to process this crazy ride and chose to allow the experience to spill out onto the pages of a memoir, Holy Dirt. The theme of music, rhythm, and magic surprisingly followed me on my 36 days on the trail. On silent foggy mornings, I discovered my favorite tune of all is the sweet rhythmic sound of my boots crunching on the gravel trail. What’s music to YOUR ears? PLAY ON!
