Business succession is my passion! That could well be the title of one of my next books. I come from a family of entrepreneurs and took over the running of our family business at a young age. And then came 15 years of entrepreneurship and a host of obstacles. Whether it was the generational handover within the family, buying companies, or even selling them later on. It was an exciting ‘learning period’ – whether from a legal, tax, economic or emotional perspective. I left no stone unturned with my parents and siblings And that was a good thing. Because that’s how I was able to learn. To learn a great deal and gain a wealth of practical experience. And at some point, it became clear that our family business was not meant to be my future until retirement. The birth of KERN – A Future for Life’s Work. In 2004, armed with this vision, I founded KERN, a highly specialised consultancy firm specialising in business succession (business sales, generational transitions and business acquisitions) for SMEs. We now operate throughout the D-A-CH region and neighbouring countries. At over 40 locations with experts who share my passion for business succession. And within the KERN Group, with selvendo, the DIY Dealmaker, the Family Business Coach, the KERN Campus Community and New Entrepreneurship, we offer a wealth of diverse solutions for succession in SMEs.
