Omar Hussain is a writer from the San Francisco Bay Area. His debut novel, A Thousand Natural Shocks, was released in May of 2025 from Blackstone. The Washington Post said of the book, “It’s daring to cross genres in a debut, like Hussain has in ‘Shocks,’ and to address such complicated themes without losing the emotional underpinning.” Omar’s debut has already made several “Best of 2025” lists, including from USA Today, The Seattle Times, San Francisco Post, BookRiot, and Goodreads. Omar holds an MFA from NYU. He now lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
