Sara Barnes has been swimming in cold water all year round since 2017. She loves the challenge and peace it brings her. At 63, each swim reminds her of her strength and resilience. In 2025, she nearly lost her life twice, and those experiences made her stronger and more determined to live not just survive. She’s had two books published: The Cold Fix and The Winter of Our Lives and made three short films: Dear Heart, Skinny and Older Bolder Colder. She’s just launched her own small indie press called CROOKED LAKE. Where the Beck Flows was released on 14th February 2026 and is a dark love story set in an isolated Cumbrian village.
