TW Iain has had more jobs than he cares to remember. He's worked in schools, outdoor activity centres, shops, offices, warehouses, kitchens — the list goes on. They paid the bills. But what he really does is write. He's been an avid reader all his life. When others ran outside to play at school, he'd pull out a book and dive into the story. Ask him about a family holiday and he'll probably tell you what he was reading at the time. Having dabbled over the years, he committed to writing seriously in 2015. He uses science fiction as a setting through which to tell stories of people struggling against the systems, societies and technologies that threaten to eradicate their humanity. There's the sci-fi horror of the Shadows trilogy, the fugitive ensemble action of ShadowTech, and the dystopian noir of Dominions. He's currently working on a set of connected series, including the sci-fi detective noir of Grim Khonsu and the space opera Chronicles of Seraph. Every new series is a deliberate step into unfamiliar territory. The pen name TW Iain comes from a family joke, with a nod towards one of his favourite writers, Iain Banks. He lives in Yorkshire, England with his family. Dark fiction needs a solid foundation, and he's fortunate enough to have one.
