Tecia McLaughlin is an Alabama-based author, entrepreneur, and public speaker whose work focuses on resilience, empowerment, and faith-driven purpose. With a background that spans military service, international business, and creative arts, she brings depth and authenticity to both her writing and public engagements. A former U.S. Army Counter-Intelligence Agent, Tecia studied German at the Defense Language Institute in San Francisco before serving in Würzburg, Germany. While stationed with the Third Infantry Military Intelligence Division, she was selected as a journalist for the Army’s Frontline newspaper, an experience that sharpened her storytelling and investigative skills. In 1989, she was crowned Miss Capitol City and competed for Miss Alabama. She later represented Troy University as an American Exchange Student at the University of Karlsruhe in Germany, studying International Marketing. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Marketing in 1993. In 1998, Tecia founded her first company, Traveling Tunes, which gained regional recognition and was featured at Mobile’s BayFest Festival within its first year. She is currently the owner of a successful full-service beach wedding company serving the Gulf Coast. Tecia made her literary debut with the romantic thriller Beseeched (2023), followed by her crime thriller Our Secret Circle (2024) and Romantic Thriller The Truth She Buried (2025). Her novels are known for blending emotional depth, strong female protagonists, and compelling suspense. In addition to her writing career, Tecia is a public speaker and mentor who is passionate about helping women build confidence, leadership, and purpose in their personal and professional lives. She resides in Alabama with her husband and four dogs.
