Author of WILDLIFE CROSSINGS OF HOPE: CONNECTING CREATURES AROUND THE GLOBE (Holiday House, Summer 2024), a non-fiction book for middle schoolers, Teddi Lynn Chichester grew up in California’s fertile Central Valley, land of farms, tule fog, and country western music. She spent many childhood summers hanging out with banana slugs and the world’s tallest trees in Northern California’s coast redwood forests, where her father worked as a State Parks Interpreter. Specializing in British Romanticism and nature-themed writing of all genres and periods, Teddi teaches writing and literature at the University of California, Los Angeles. She loves spending time with her sons Alexey and Nicolai, her orange tabby Benjamin, and her somewhat sassy horse Mischa. When she’s not grading papers, reading books about the natural world, or hiking, she volunteers at the nursery where native plants for the world’s largest wildlife crossing await the bridge’s completion. WILDLIFE CROSSINGS OF HOPE is her first book for young readers. Her scholarly writing focuses on the poet Percy Bysshe Shelley, subject of her monograph SHELLEY'S MIRRORS OF LOVE: NARCISSISM, SACRIFICE, AND SORORITY (State University of New York Press, 1999) and various articles.
