And then there's the issue of the title that appeared on Brian's personal record, a title with no explanation and, as far as he can tell, no historical precedent: Agent of the Wild. What exactly is the Wild? And what does being an agent of it even mean?

As ever on Eos, even the questions are dangerous, while the answers will be downright deadly.

Agent of the Wild is the second book in this ongoing series that fuses LitRPG with a more traditional epic fantasy approach. Numbers and stats are balanced by a focus on party-based adventuring, group dynamics, and themes of personal growth.

Progression-less fantasy

There's slow-burn stories, then there's whatever the author is going for here....

First off, this is well written and I think the author has a real skill for world building and character interactions. Though overly wordy and drawn out, this is a genuinely good book and I'd recommend giving the series a shot.

That said, this is the slowest LITRPG/Progression Fantasy series I've seen across my 500+ books library. We're over 50 hours in now and the MC has yet to hit the FIRST (of at least 5?) rank of power. This is with his special quality of getting quests from the system too. Given the length of these books, this would be book 5 in any other series, and he's so weak. At this rate, we're going to be 300 hours into this before he hits the higher realms of power to address the greater threat on the other continent. My main concern is the author will soon realize how much time has been wasted, and write in some silly powering level arc to catch up as he's now too weak for the plot stage he's in...

The slow progression leads to the 2nd issue were - the MCs power set is soooo boring. He just lunges with a spear. 50 hours in and that's basically it. No magic, no unique ability, even his unique weapon doesn't do anything besides not break.

I've written so much here because despite all this, the story is stil compelling enough for me to finsh both books! I'm just at a loss as to the point of these choices, I assume the author must hate stories with unearned progression and has wildly overcorrected here. But please, just let Brian progress, he's earned it by now.

Relationships between the characters is really good

I enjoyed the book very much. There are some boring parts, but overall a great story.

I’m so happy the Author indicates this will be a long series!

The second installment in The (Second) Life of Brian continues in the aftermath of the first book, and travels paths both anticipated and surprising to reach its conclusion a wonderfully long while later (although it feels hardly long enough when finished!). It’s solidly written and expands on both the characters and setting in robust ways, revealing more about both and what they may develop into, by choice or circumstance. I look forward to the third book (which the Author’s blog indicates should’ve late summer or early fall in print) and hope that many others do too!

The narrator did well and continued his performance of the various characters’ voices as if no time passed between recording the two, which was nice to hear! If you enjoyed their performance of the first book, I’m pleased to say you won’t be disappointed in the slightest.

PS: I won’t forget the 3 laws of the spear as I wait for the next book, and I don’t think my fellow readers or listeners will either after this installment!

Well written characters and a good story

Waited a long time for the (second) book and it was worth it, tho I hope the third won’t take as long

Horrible voice actor

I followed the first volume and enjoyed the story, but the problem with the first is the same problem with the second. The voice actor sucks. I was hoping that the time between the first and second volume would have the guy working on his craft and improving but no. Still bad.

I would give this five stars if the VA didnt have this nasty habit of speaking the entire MC dialogue as if he is constipated. Always pinching a loaf. Brian the everpooping. Seriously the whiny, crybaby voice has got to go. I am done with this series and will NEVER get another product with this VA. Simply awful.
