Great Intro To Catalina's Series

I was disappointed in the voice and performance choices for Nevada's series, but really enjoyed the voices and performances for this one. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

I absolutely love these adaptations!!

Almost everything was wonderful. The story is a fantastic Segway from Nevadas story to Catalina’s. The only thing that was odd was Mia Rosa’s voice. I say this with absolutely no disrespect, but… the voice seemed over done, like someone older was trying too hard to sound like a very young Spanish girl and in the end it kind of gave “Speedy Gonzalez” vibes from the old cartoons. Other than that, the performance was everything I hoped it would be. Mi can’t wait for Catalina’s books!

Passing the MC torch

This novella bridges the gap between the book arcs featuring Nevada Baylor/Connor Rogan and Catalina Vaylor/Alessandro Segrado. While it starts off with Nevada’s POV, the majority pivots to Catalina who is asked to investigate a family jewel gone missing during the preparations for Nevada and Connor’s wedding.

I’m not sure it functions as a standalone unless you’ve heard books 1-3, because there’s a lot of characters and backstories involved. It’s also light on magic, almost exclusively focusing on Catalina’s power. And, you could skip this and start Catalina’s three book arc without missing much.

However, I think it’s an excellent highlighting of Catalina as she steps out of her sister’s shadow, grows into her powers, and takes on the fascinating alternate Texas with magical Primes.
