Another rom-com murder mystery

This is good, but doesn’t reach the heights of book 1. The books are similar in theme rather than overlapping characters or storyline (though Juniper makes a very brief appearance). Like book 2, it’s a rom-com murder mystery with an eccentric FMC and an MC author. It’s a fast-paced and engrossing read, but there’s less humor and the FMC isn’t nearly as endearing.

I enjoyed the first half of the book more than the second, as it starts to get a bit too philosophical for my taste, and we spend too much time in the heads of overly whacked characters. I know the author was looking to add depth to her book and characters, but it felt just a little too… forced. Some of the MC interaction scenes get a little weird and awkward as well.

It’s still a good book and worth reading. The first half is a solid 5-stars and the second drops to 4.

Content:
There is no foul language or sex. There is a little violence, but it’s not excessive or gory. The romance is limited to minor ogling and mildly descriptive heated kisses. There are a couple comments that imply there is nothing wrong with sex before marriage. There is no real mention of faith or God.

Great book

I’m honestly shocked the rating are so low. I really enjoyed this book and the narration of both male and female talents. It was cute and funny with some self reflection and romance. I also liked the mystery although it wasn’t my main focus, it was well done.

Fun listen

This is such a cute listen. If murder mystery is cute this is it. The romance with Soren and Heidi, while not hot and spicy, is real and honest.
The mystery of the murders takes some twists and turns, keeps you wondering.
The story has heart and emotion

I listened to this book and loved the duel narration of it!

I really enjoyed the clean romance with cozy mystery. This book has the funniest meet cute I have read in a long while. Heidi and Soran are just great characters that you can relate to. I just really enjoyed how Soran fell first and was so patient with Heidi and let her process through what she needed to process through with her emotions about what happened to her while she was younger and how that effects her with relationships.
