The library once stood proud as a beacon of magic and power. For five hundred years, it has been broken.

Quinn can barely handle her own life. When the Library of Everywhere discovers her compatible magical signature, suddenly, she is the sole existing potential librarian. Now, it's not only the weight of her world on her shoulders—Quinn must connect with the library system before the universe itself disintegrates.

Once she's settled, it should be quiet, peaceful work—just as soon as she battles a few engorged bookworms, repairs hundreds of years of damage, and figures out why there's been no librarian for the last several centuries.

And once that's done she can start gathering overdue books. All 18,042 of them to start.

There'll be a helluva lot of late fees to process.

The premise is fine. The narrator is solid as she always is. The plot is good. Unfortunately the whole thing is ruined by the fact that everyone is always snapping at each other. It's not witty banter, its not sarcasm (though they try to pass it of that way at the start) its not characters with opposing ideals that always snark at each other. Any of these would be fine, but what we actually get is the kind of lashing out at people that happens when a person gets so overwhelmed that they lash out at the first thing that they see. Sure many of these character are stressed and overwhelmed, but its to much. Any whimsy and enjoyment is quickly dashed because just about every chapter has someone lashing out at someone else then immediately apologizing and then turning around and doing it again over and over and over. I gave book 2 a couple hours of listen to see if it got better but it seemed to get worse in the second book so I just gave up on the series. Maybe you will be less frustrated with this constant lashing out but either way Youve been warned.

A frustrating listen

fun take on litrpg. thank you Andrea for drastically reducing the amount of hmm, heh, and huh noises you make! that was really distracting in other books like azarinth healer. the fear of that almost put me off this book but it really was a lot better in this book. I enjoyed the world of this book and the unique purpose of the mc

solid start!

Action packed from start to finish! And what a unique concept for a lit rpg! The story held my attention the entire time!

Wow!

I really wanted to like this book more when I read the synopsis. It just wasn’t what I prefer. Performance was great, but the story was not for me.

Okay, but not for me.

The characters were constantly snapping at each other and apologizing: over and over and over again. They kept saying “I’m stressed and the library is sooooo expansive I’m overwhelmed.” You could fill 3 chapters of this same scenario being played out that is written in this book. Highly, highly repetitive and I just could not listen to it anymore.

I wanted it to be good, the idea was great, but output was surface level drama with no depth.

It made annoyed and frustrated.
