A nice quick listen

This was a solid story to listen to while working. It is short, so you get the whole mystery in a few hours. The campus setting makes it feel very close and real. I liked how the story focused on the creepy room more than anything else. It is not a super complex mystery, but it is very effective at making you feel uneasy. The cop character is nice and normal, which I appreciated. If you want a quick, spooky story for a commute, this one is a great choice. I enjoyed it a lot.

The Empty Space

Imagine being a police officer and finding a room that has absolutely nothing inside of it but still feels dangerous. That is exactly what happens to Steven in this book and it is really gripping to follow along. The campus setting is great because it feels so normal compared to the weirdness of Room 316. The story doesn't get confusing or use hard words which makes it easy to enjoy while you are doing other things. I really liked how the mystery kept moving forward and never felt slow. It is a very solid and spooky audiobook.

Steven Kent works well as a grounded lead. His skepticism mixed with growing dread gives the story a steady anchor as things become more unsettling. The mystery surrounding the university and the room’s history unfolds at a measured pace, which helps build suspense.

The story was not bad overall. It keeps your attention and has moments that land effectively. I did feel there was room to deepen certain emotional beats or sharpen the horror elements to make the impact stronger.

The narration was okay. It carried the tone of the story without being distracting, though it did not fully elevate the tension in the way a more dynamic performance might have.

For listeners who enjoy campus horror with a creeping, slow burn feel, this installment offers a solid, eerie experience with a premise that has real potential.
