Amma just can't help herself around Damien Maleficus Bloodthorne, danger be damned, but, truly, what danger is there? Damien's heart, the one he swears to not have, has been softening right before her eyes. Nevermind the weird smoke that sometimes unwittingly emanates from his hands or that faraway look he gets to his eyes, and a voice she can't hear telling him that he's meant to be a vessel?

Surely it's all just a bad dream. After finally tasting freedom and learning that Amma may have ancient, innate magical powers of her own, why not use them to do exactly as she pleases?

Gooood slow burn, voice acting perfection

I devoured book one and two. first audiobook experience- I fear I may have peaked.

A very solid 2nd entry!

A fun wild ride, slow burn, romantasy without glaring plot holes or terrible writing that takes you out of the story?!? Yes please!!

Loving this series

A really excellent second book in the series. Mixes fantasy, romance, and humor so effortlessly. Looking forward to the next one!

Narration and story still stellar

Such a good story, I can't wait to get the next one in the series. This is the ultimate slow burn because they've hardly held each other or kissed each other, but it kind of adorable. Adventure forward for sure. There were a few small lulls where they droned on something for a few chapters, but otherwise the pacing was really good. I love that even though their story is not done, every book solves for something and leaves you with a new well thought out cliffhanger.

Sweet, romantic and funny

I love the characters and the quick wit of the story. The only thing I didn’t like was the cliffhanger ending but it is still a great series to read in between serious books.
