An original short story anthology based on master storyteller Stephen King’s #1 New York Times bestselling classic The Stand!

Since its initial publication in 1978, The Stand has been considered Stephen King’s seminal masterpiece of apocalyptic fiction, with millions of copies sold and adapted twice for television. Although there are other extraordinary works exploring the unraveling of human society, none have been as influential as this iconic novel—generations of writers have been impacted by its dark yet ultimately hopeful vision of the end and new beginning of civilization, and its stunning array of characters.

Now for the first time, Stephen King has fully authorized a return to the harrowing world of The Stand through this original short story anthology as presented by award-winning authors and editors Christopher Golden and Brian Keene. Bringing together some of today’s greatest and most visionary writers, The End of the World As We Know It features unforgettable, all-new stories set during and after (and some perhaps long after) the events of The Stand—brilliant, terrifying, and painfully human tales that will resonate with readers everywhere as an essential companion to the classic, bestselling novel.

Featuring an introduction by Stephen King, a foreword by Christopher Golden, and an afterword by Brian Keene. Contributors include Wayne Brady and Maurice Broaddus, Poppy Z. Brite, Somer Canon, C. It seemed like many of the Authors didn't even read the stand. alot of agenda or lesson driven stories with very little notable character traits or development

some the the authors seemed to have read the original novel.

The stories are so insanely all over the place that it's really hard to enjoy. Ojo's narration is like Christopher Walken and William Shatner combined. The accents are bad, the infections worse and are hard to get past.

Many of these stories feel like they were written by people that didn't read the source material. Overall it falls short of what was a low bar to begin with.

Disappointed

She was bad! I have over 500 audible books. I have come across a few books to return because of terrible reading.
Honestly this IS the Worst I have heard.
Please record the stories that she read and give it free as an Apology! I started several of her readings but could Not take it after no more than 5 minutes.

Of all the reasons I like the stand, I think the immersion is at the top of the list. So a collection of short stories based off the stand had me both skeptical and curious. I just finished it and if you enjoyed the stand and found yourself wondering about other survivors in that world this book is totally worth the credit. Its like professional fanfiction, but in a good way. Some of the stories felt like they came straight out of the stand while a few seemed to go in a wildly different direction entirely. I didn't find any of them boring though. All in all its a solid collection.

I'd also note, if you haven't read the stand I think if you want to get the most out of this you should definitely read that first. Reading this first would be like watching deleted scenes from a movie you've never seen. And don't be put off by the length its one of the best parts.

It's a solid collection
