Tyler Chambers is a nineteen-year-old with a knack for making bad decisions and a rap sheet to prove it. When a judge offers him a choice between jail time and four years in the U.S. Navy, Tyler thinks he’s found his ticket to freedom. But military life in 1980s Hawaii is anything but the tropical paradise he was looking for.

Between a bet to date the base’s most unattainable woman, a friendship with a sharp-tongued lesbian, twisted romances, and living life as a stereotypical sailor, Tyler finds himself tangled in a web of love, lust, and blackmail. As he navigates a new life in the military, Tyler must decide what kind of man he wants to be, and whether he can outrun the trouble from his past while creating more trouble to live in.
