I had to stop listening a couple of time because my heart hurt. I finished listening because I owed to you to give you my full attention and listening ear. I hope this provides any skeptics the details they need to empathize and understand the incomprehensible.

Surprised She Spoke Out

I was intrigued by the story because she was always the ONE everyone wanted to hear from. I will say that I expected more details about people around that tried to help her or more details about her relationship with R Kelly once she was on her 20s. I can understand not wanting to tell everything however I do feel like she skimmed thru a 15+ year situation with very basic information. I am still happy she did speak out because despite what I think about the details, she does help us understand how it started, how her parents handled it and how she felt going through the whole situation. Lastly, SPARKLE may have blown the whistle HOWEVER why would she instruct this child to sit on his lap…..well read it to get the rest! Sparkle ain’t right either. She may be the lesser of some of the evils OR you could look at it like she is the person that got this started. I’m very much conflicted on Sparkle’s role in all of this.

Heartbreaking

This book infuriated me while also causing greater sympathy Shon and others like her. I do wish there were a greater elaboration about her life outside abuser such as how she navigated life, first job, if she pursued college, etc. I wish nothing but healing upon Shon and her family

Authentic and Transparent

This was a great audio book. I am glad that Reshona shared her story. It is awful to think of what she experienced as a child. However , she was very authentic. Must buy!

Who’s Watching Shorty

It’s sad to know that she spend about 14 years going through this with an abuser. Even today she gets threats from people. He took her life from her and she reclaimed it. She is so strong and I feel like this is only the beginning for her! God bless you!
