  • Make A Difference Minute: Turning Compassion Into Action for Alabama's Wildlife
    Apr 16 2026
On this Make A Difference Minute, I’m talking with Chris Sykes, Executive Director of the Alabama Wildlife Center. Located inside Oak Mountain State Park, AWC has been caring for Alabama’s wildlife for more than 40 years. From owl, falcon, and vulture habitats along a beautiful ADA-accessible boardwalk to hands-on rehabilitation happening right in front of visitors, this is a place where you can truly see the difference being made. Now, they’re in the final push to launch Alabama’s first wildlife rehabilitation specialty license plate. Every registration helps create lasting support for the birds they care for 365 days a year, even on Christmas Day. If you’d like to learn more or pre-register, visit AlabamaWildlifeCenter.org. Apr 16 2026
On tonight’s show, I’m joined by Chris Sykes, Executive Director of the Alabama Wildlife Center, to talk about a critical opportunity that’s right in front of us. With a May 1st deadline quickly approaching, AWC is in the final push to secure the remaining pre-registrations needed to launch Alabama’s first-ever wildlife rehabilitation specialty license plate. • Holding On for Hope: Rory Amos’ Fight for a Kidney
    Apr 15 2026
On this edition of The Mark White Show, I’m sharing the story of Rory Amos, a husband, father, and hardworking provider who continues to push forward in the face of serious health challenges. Rory has been on peritoneal dialysis for the past three years and is currently on the transplant list for a kidney at UAB and St. Thomas in Nashville. His journey has included life-changing complications from diabetes, including the loss of a leg, yet he continues to work, provide for his family, and press on with determination. Alongside his wife Jessica, Rory is raising five children and has opened his home and heart to a foster child they are working to adopt, showing what it means to care for others even while facing his own fight.
