I’m an aspiring firefighter hoping to enter academy spring 2026. This book has many many nuggets of wisdom and they are told in a way that I retain info best, lil sayings. For instance “small to big = back to the rig” in reference to how to follow a hose line to get back to safety in a fire with low visibility. Lots and lots and lots of golden advice for both older and younger individuals hoping to become a firefighter. Thank you to the author for sharing his knowledge.

Being a Fire Chief with almost 25 years in the fire service, I found this book to be not only a great refresher, but also a source of some new information. The author organized this book well from start to finish. I have since purchased copies of this book for my new firefighters as required material during their first year. I am sure they will find it as useful as I did!
