Contemporary

I enjoyed this contemporary romance stand alone novel. It was narrated well by Katherine Beresford. The heroine is a strong, independent , career- driven lawyer. She always put her goals ahead of even a personal life. That changes when she meets the new neighbor. He's a hot Australian surfer dude.This audiobook is entertaining.

I'm not a big romance fan...

That being said, a friend recommended this book and I decided to take a break from my usual genres and listen to this book. It started slow as far as the romance part. I almost wondered if I had downloaded the wrong book. My previous experience with romance books had been different. The only problem I had with the narration was the voice for the lead male Jake. He sounded like a school boy. I had to look at the cover to get an idea of who I should be picturing in the story. It was hard to imagine romance with this character's voice.

After the first few chapters, the story became more interesting and I began to enjoy it. I felt the ending a bit abrupt. I don' t want to give out any spoilers, but expanding on the ending I feel would have promoted the happy ending we all look forward to.
