Judith Johnson takes her younger brother and moves from Western Virginia to Kansas as a mail-order bride after their parents die. Her husband, although handsome and charming, turns out to be a womanizer and has a drinking problem. Judith is determined to make her marriage work, however, and she keeps telling herself her situation could be worse.

At least Calvin's older brother is stable and responsible, providing a home for them on the farm where they all live. But farm life on the prairie can be hard in 1850, and Calvin’s attitude makes the struggles even worse. Where will it all lead? Does God have a plan in all this?

In my opinion each book to this series has been better than the one before! While I wasn't a fan of the adultery, drinking and promiscuous lifestyle of some characters in this book, I loved the faith and love of God of the others. I won't spoil anything, but I really enjoyed the ending.

The narrative was done well.

I received a free copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving this review.

I listened to this book and the story in itself and the narrator was great. I really enjoyed the spiritual nuggets, the forgiveness and strong will of a person was really something to hear. Jessica and Matthew were really strong in their spiritual life. It is a clean book even though there were some things that happened that could have been terrible. The author was very careful not to go to far and the characterizations had to be identified for the story.
I received a copy of this audiobook from the author but was not required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.

I have read many of the books by this author, however, this book has wowed me! It is by far my favorite of hers. It kept me intrigued from the very beginning until the very end. I fell in love with (most) of the characters and will be sad to say goodbye to them! Well written and a beautiful read. ❤️

I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This book by Janice Cole Hopkins was a much more realistic mail order bride story than what I have been accustomed to reading. I'll bet there were a lot more of these type marriages where one or both parties were a bit disappointed and had to work really hard at the marriage. I'll have to say that Judith was much more forgiving than I probably would have been and I certainly would not have been able to keep from voicing my opinion! Brad Leaf did a good job narrating this story and I soon got caught up in it! I would definitely read/listen to another book by this author/narrator team!
