Lady Arabella Tempest dreamed of a love-match, not a scandal. One late-night accident at a London ball binds her to a man whose dark gaze unsettles her in ways she never expected. Forced into marriage with the brooding Duke of Balfour, she is swept from the dashing ton to a remote Scottish castle, where his restraint and quiet honor begin to claim her heart.

Ewan Kirkpatrick, Duke of Balfour, married only out of duty, his heart hardened by betrayal. Yet from the moment Arabella enters his life, her warmth and courage unsettle his carefully guarded control. Every shared moment tempts him to risk a love he swore was forever closed to him.

When whispers of the past, betrayal, and financial ruin surface within the walls of Balfour Castle, Arabella’s life is suddenly in danger, and trust may come too late. With enemies closer than they appear and the past reaching out to destroy them, Ewan must decide: protect his heart… or save the woman he is falling in love with.

Characters were flat, plot was full of holes. the Ai narration, while not as bad as expected, made the dialogue stilted and confusing, with odd pauses. I'm not sure if the book itself was written using Ai but it certainly seemed like it.
