Beatrix Manning, cousin to the beautiful Lady Cordelia, wants to be a famous novelist. Although she enjoys reading out her silly stories to the Literary Gathering of Dubious Merit, she has secretly been working on a book that she hopes will change her fortunes, but it requires a rewrite due to some unflattering caricatures of the Ton within the pages.

Felix Drake, a budding publisher and printer intent on growing his business, is flattered and grateful when an old friend invites him to read to her wealthy friends. As luck would have it, an entertaining story from a Mysterious Authoress recently landed in his lap, and it is as much of a hit with the Ton as he hoped it would be. Unfortunately one of the young ladies at the party claims that the book is hers - and than she has not given him permission to publish it.

Trix is horrified that her book - including the very unflattering portraits of some of the well connected members of Society - is fast becoming all the rage. With the help of her cousin, Cordy, she is desperate to limit the damage as much as possible, while proving that she is the real writer to Felix. If anyone else should discover that she is the author, however, her reputation could be ruined. In addition, the identity of the mysterious fake authoress still needs to be uncovered. Felix is inclined to believe Trix is the real writer, but his business depends on this book becoming successful. As their attraction to each other only grows, the real question is whether their different goals will bring them together or eventually drive them apart.

Bramwell, the author, started this series as a gift for her mom who had worn out her Georgia Heyer novel. Romantic, but no verbal description of sex. In this book, a diamond of the Ton wants to publish her gothic novel and becomes entwined with her publisher. Great fun! A few characters from earlier books make cameo appearances.

A Novel Miss is a delightful clean regency romance. The storyline is strong and has a nice pace and I love the humor. As with the other books in this series, I adore the vibrant characters. The performer does a superb job with narration.
I received a complementary copy and have chosen to give my honest opinion.

Delightful

This is the fifth book in the Regency Romps series. Each book is a standalone and has a complete ending - no cliffhangers. You can read the books in any order but some of the characters do crossover from one book to the next.

What a delight! I very much enjoyed the humor - both situational and the witty one-liners. The kidnapping by the dimwitted villain was very entertaining. The manner of writing gets better with each book in this series. The MC, Beatrix Manning, is a strong, likeable, intelligent and very capable woman. And the ladies and gentlemen of the Ton are colorful and engaging. What a fun romp!

The narrator, Julia Eve, is the same for all of the books in this series. She does a great job and adds to the fun.

A delightful romp which resonated with the Georgette Heyer vision of the Regency, wonderfully acted by narrator Julia Eve whose voices added to the fun.

Regency a la Heyer

An aspiring and talented novelist whose work has been published without her permission and a publisher of the said novel who would like to believe her but has a business to run make an interesting couple in this funny, sweet and really entertaining romace :)
Beatrix and Felix are both likeable main characters, a couple we want to see ending up together. They are of the Ton and yet quite outside it, thus being able to observe its workings and comment on what they see with wit and intelligence. They are surrounded by a whole bunch of well described, colourful background characters playing bigger or smaller parts in the whole plot, which in itself is fast, engaging and with quite a few surprising twists. And I love the subtle humour prevalent in the whole book...:)

Narration by Ms Eve is wonderful; subtle and warm in general, emotional where nevessary, with almost all the voices well matching individual characters (the only one I liked less was Cordelia's voice - I thought she sounded definitely too old for her age...:)). Overall, it's a fantastic interpretation of the book.
