A Princess of Mars was the first book by Edgar Rice Burroughs to feature the character John Carter. It led to an 11-book series featuring his adventures and became the basis for the 2012 movie. Carter is a war-weary former military captain during the Civil War who is inexplicably transported to Mars. He quickly (and reluctantly) becomes embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions among the inhabitants of the planet.

E.R.B. Best know for his authorship of the Tarzan series, and much better series The Martian Tales is given a serious upgrade by a new voice actor! Move over Matthew McConaughey! We have a new voice for true southern gentleman. I’d love a revision of all of the Martian Tales with McLeod. Keep up the great work! And thank you for your contribution to preserving classic stories!

I great story made better by out of this world narration!

What a wonderfully written sci-fi. It is over a century old and still holds up well. The pacing is face and sometimes a bit disorienting, but it makes up for it in the interesting storytelling and world building

I read this book when I was 13 years old and came across the Martian series of Edgar Rice Burroughs in Audible and decided to listen to it. Enjoyed it a lot even if it seems a little more for the age group that I was when I read it the first time.

A little tropey and there are certain parts that didn’t age so well, but John Carter is a true scifi adventure story! So smart, fun, and engaging, made even better by the excellent narration! I wish Macleod Andrews could narrate the rest of the series. I’m trying to move on to the next book and can’t find a voice I like nearly as much!

Classic. Amazing narration!

Accent and performance suited the story and character perfectly. Captivating story, though squarely in the romantic adventure and wish fulfillment category. Still, some highly compelling science fiction and adventure concepts that aged better than the social aspects.

Perfect narration
