A cozy sci-fi novel from the New York Times bestselling author of Star Wars: Brotherhood

The only thing harder than finding someone in a time loop is losing them.

Grieving her best friend's recent death, neuroscientist Mariana Pineda’s ready to give up everything to start anew. Even her career—after one last week consulting at a top secret particle accelerator.

Except the strangest thing happens: a man stops her…and claims they've met before. Carter Cho knows who she is, why she's mourning, why she's there. And he needs Mariana to remember everything he’s saying.

Because time is about to loop.

In a flash of energy, it’s Monday morning. Again. Together, Mariana and Carter enter an inevitable life, four days at a time, over and over, without permanence except for what they share.

But just as they figure out this new life, everything changes. Because Carter's memories of the time loop are slowly disappearing. And their only chance at happiness is breaking out of the loop—forever.

“This unusual and satisfying near-future time-travel adventure fires on all cylinders.” —Publishers Weekly

Stuck in a 4 day time loop? Why not fall in love with the only other person stuck in it?

After her best friend dies, neuroscientist Mariana Pineda is ready to give up everything to start anew. Even her career— after one last week consulting at a top secret particle accelerator. Except the strangest thing happens. A man stops her…and claims they've met before.

With everything resetting—even bank accounts—joy comes in the little a delicious (and expensive) meal, a tennis match, giving a dog his favorite treat. In some ways, those are all that matter.

But just as they figure out this new life, everything changes. Because Carter's memories of the time loop are slowly disappearing. And their only chance at happiness is breaking out of the loop—forever.

Skillfully entwined threads of time in all its permutations, like only Mike Chen can do it!

I enjoyed the pseudoscience, character development, and plot. I appreciated the imaginative way that the two main characters navigated their time loop and the author’s handling of their relationship. The last third of the book is less well-developed than the first part, but I liked how it all came together. Overall, a satisfying time travel story with some (but not too many) romantic elements.

Good time travel story

I wanted more of the love story. More Carter. An epilogue about the main characters.

Great time loop story!

I didn't know what to really expect of this book. I found it enjoyable and interesting for the casual listening.

Didn't disappoint

It was a gripping story from the start, with interesting characters and a great time loop story arc to build engagement. Chen manages to lean into the classic marks of time loops, while mixing things up enough to keep things interesting, all the way to a very satisfying conclusion

The narration is excellent as well. She was perfect for the story

Intriguing Sci-Fi
