This title uses virtual voice narration

Virtual voice is computer-generated narration for audiobooks.
A true recounting of the high-profile Oregon murder case that led to Karly's Law. Part memoir, part investigative journalism, this is the story Ann Rule called "A Must Read." Reminiscent of Capote's In Cold Blood, the book has been written in the tradition of new journalism. The writer's proximity to the people involved make for unrelenting storytelling. As Karly's abuse escalates, the investigations unravel at a rapid-fire pace. Abuse Biographies & Memoirs Dysfunctional Families Murder Parenting & Families Relationships True Crime

While Virtual Voice is amazingly good, for the technology, the errors are disconcerting and takes one out of the story. Examples - Inmate 1210000 is read as “Inmate ten million two hundred thousand” (Voice has problems with numbers). “Live” as in a live TV show is read as in live and let “live.” The description “Rep. Susan Hayes” is read repeatedly as “Rep” (a human narrator, probably would’ve read it as Representative), followed by a pause, because Voice is confused by the period, I assume. I so much prefer human readers!

Has changed me & my outlook and how i perceive those around me. Empowered me to say something whereas in moments prior i may not have. Grateful to the author for bringing this topic to the light in how artfully this book was written. Thank you.

A must read

Although were a few glitches with the automated voice, the story shown through as a very important tool to try to signify child abuse. I would definitely heed the cautionary tale herein & give this memoir to anyone who is in close proximity with children on a daily basis

Compelling, unnerving and disturbing

A very sad and tragic event. Hard to listen to but hopefully raising awareness about child abuse. Too bad they didn’t make an example out of monster mom.

The fact that Carly’s monster mom allowed that to happen, she should be in prison. No excuse!!

A tragic story. My heart breaks for this sweet little angel, taken from us far too soon. Highly recommend.

Couldn't put it down!
