Surely she'd gone completely mad. Claire Manning can't imagine what she was thinking when she decided to help the escapee from her company's lab, but after seeing him caged like an animal, her humanitarian compulsion could not be overridden - even by the arrogant, scowling 18th-century Highlander Hugh Urquhart turned out to be.

His entire life has been taken away from him, and Claire understands the pain and torment of loss. She understands the desperation she sees in his eyes and is prepared to do whatever it takes to secure Hugh's freedom and future. What she isn't prepared for is the ruggedly handsome Scot she finds under the layers of grime and blood caked on him. Nor is she prepared to feel so much more than mere compassion for his suffering.

Contains mature themes.

Well written and plenty of action. I couldn't put it down because I was wanting the duke and his lady to survive the evi! intents of the scientist.

What a fabulous spin Angeline Fortin has put on a time travel romance! I really enjoyed the second book in this series. I would have rated it a 5 star except for a couple of minor loop holes. I know, picky! Kirsten Potter will be on my go to narrator list from now on.

A Time Travel Wow!

I loved Hugh's insatiable appetite for knowledge. And his self-assurance when flirting. He could sweet-talk anyone! Claire didn't have a chance, but he had to break down her walls.

Oh Hugh!

This is the 2nd book in the series and it is extremely better than the first. You will need to read the first to understand the last book in the series, but if you can make it through that, this 2nd book will be worth it. First off, the main character is extremely more likable than the one from the first book, who was very annoying. This girl seems so much more relatable and normal. And Hugh is so sexy and smart! The plot for this story is much more entertaining as well. It's exciting and keeps you interested. I love the narrator! I think she does a great job with both female and male voices. I highly recommend this novel!

Way better than the first book of the series!

All time travel romances seem to include a lonely girl and a lonely Scotsman who get together in either the past or the current time. The Scotsman ends up now from a government science project gone wrong.
The escapades they go through to stay free are entertaining.

Interesting time travel romance
