Charlize "Charlie" Edwards certainly knows, in theory, what it takes to lead a successful and happy life. She owns a nice house in Silverlake, the trendiest neighborhood in L.A. She has glamorous and loyal friends who accompany her to the hottest clubs in town. And she works as the personal assistant to Drew Stanton, Hollywood's sexiest movie star. But she's also turning 30, chronically single, and faced with serving as maid of honor at her younger sister's wedding. Charlie finds herself struggling to juggle the chaos of wedding planning (while wondering if she'll ever wear the white dress herself), her all-consuming job for lunatic boss Stanton, and a serious crush on Jordan, a photographer on the set of Drew's latest feature - a man who might actually return her feelings.

I really enjoyed this book. Charlie is a likable character and you really want things to work out for her. I really hope that Audible gets Book 2 soon!

Very fun story, likable main character

Would you consider the audio edition of A Total Waste of Makeup to be better than the print version?

yes it felt like you was getting it from someone else's point of view and how they see it and i just love how they brought life to each character no two characters where the same and Allyson Ryan performance was perfect through out the whole book

Which character – as performed by Allyson Ryan – was your favorite?

Drew I felt like I could really get to know him although he was unpredictable I feel his energy and personality just brought life to this story and made me wish I got to know more of him

Any additional comments?

This book is great I loved the story telling the nuggets of advise and the fairly accurate portrayal of Los Angeles life, but the author has a sequel to this book- where is the sequel?

This is great.

Summary: Humorous, well-written, excellent performance, no explicit bedroom scenes, close to 5 stars but story-line was slow

Humorous with sarcastic overtones, the protagonist is caught up in the materialistic, crazy world of Hollywood and the situations of her neurotic family. She suffers a mid-life crisis when she turns 30, which gets a bit tiresome toward the ending of the book when her outlook begins to feel high school-like. At times, the protagonist's preoccupation with marriage seemed more appropriate for a historical novel.

This book is not about the plot, it's about cynicism, sarcasm, humorous circumstances, and a little romance. Even so, toward the end of the book, I got impatient for the story to move along a little faster.

Readers who enjoy their romance stories without explicit bedroom scenes will enjoy Gruenenfelder's avoidance of anything along those lines, although there is plenty of sexual overtones.

Overall, entertaining, competent writing, excellent performance - really excellent, definitely worth the credit.
