She’s finally joined the dating app everyone in Cider Cove is raving about…when she accidentally sends a message about wanting to meet up for a first date to her enemy.

Hillary:
I’ve been engaged twice now without becoming a bride, and let’s just say those failures have made me more career-focused than ever.

But I just hit the big 3-0 last year, and I’m feeling…lonely, despite the five best friends I share an enormous house with. I’ve drawn the short stick this time, and I’m dealing with the general contractor about fixing our perpetually leaking roof.

Liam Graff is a complete beast—and our next-door neighbor—which only makes the way we sometimes gather at the upper floor windows to watch him mow his lawn shirtless a little embarrassing.

In order to cheer myself up, I join the dating app everyone in town can’t stop talking about, and I’ve been chatting back and forth with Mr. Hottie from one town over.

Great. No, really, it’s great. I’m great. He’s great.

Except I’ve also been texting with Liam about this blasted roof, and my invite for dinner in a slinky black dress goes to him instead of Mr. Hottie…

Before I can correct and explain myself, he responds with, What time should I pick you up?

That very terrible text may haunt me for the rest of my life…or change it completely.

Awful Narration

I never give up on books but the narration was so horrible that i turned this off. AI needs to dramatically improve. The tone is so off-putting. Pay the actors. They are worth it.

TERRIBLE NARRATION

I listened to this to check out a virtual voice performance. IT WAS AWFUL. I regularly read Kindle editions of this author's work, so I was expecting a light story -- something I could listen to while walking. However, this is written as dual voices, but only one voice was used for the performance -- the male voice should have had an actual male virtual voice. Because everything was performed only by a female voice, there were times I totally forgot whether I was listening to the male or female story line. Further, because it's a virtual voice, the listener does not get the emotional tones that come with a person actually doing the performance.

I don't know who choses narrators, but this one was a total miss. Will wait a while before I try another virtual voice performance.

Lots of trope but a decent story

I liked the characters and their stories, I enjoyed the secondary characters as well and look forward to their stories. However it was hard to connect with the characters sometimes because of the narration and even harder to tell who was talking. I can’t recommend listening to this book, maybe buy it and read it instead. I get that it saves money & time to use the generated narrator but I listen to audio books for the nuances that the narrators bring. This did not work for me. I thought I’d give it a try but will not be listening to another book that is not narrated by a human.

Felt real

I loved this book about finding love in an unexpected way. It felt very life like with questions and problems to work through. Just a perfect romantic tale.

Terrible Narration

I had a difficult time with the AI narration. It was flat and monotone and like another reviewer said it was difficult to differentiate what characters were speaking. Technology can be great a thing but in this case it fell flat.
