Historical Romance to Fall in Love With

Stone Hammond is the best tracker in Texas. He never comes home empty handed. So when a wealthy railroad investor hires him to find his abducted granddaughter, Stone eagerly accepts. Charlotte Atherton, former headmistress of Sullivan's Academy for Exceptional Youths, will do anything to keep her charges safe, especially the little girl entrusted to her care after her mother's death.

Charlotte promised Lily's mother she'd keep the girl away from her unscrupulous grandfather, and nothing will stop Charlotte from fulfilling that pledge. Not even the handsome bounty hunter with surprisingly honest eyes who comes looking for them. When the teacher he's after produces documentation that shows she's the little girl's legal guardian, Stone must reevaluate everything he's been led to believe.

Is Miss Atherton villain or victim? She acts more like a loving mother than an abductress, and the children in her care clearly adore her. Should Stone break his perfect record? Then a new danger threatens, and Charlotte is forced to trust the man sent to destroy her. Stone becomes determined to protect what he once sought to tear apart. Besides, he's ready to start a new pursuit: winning Charlotte's heart.

This is a western and a romance with a Christian message, and I enjoyed it very much. I’m not a big romance fan, but this one had very high ratings, and I’m glad I gave it a chance.

The prim and proper headmistress of a school for gifted children in Houston, Texas tries to protect several of her students when the school is unexpectedly closed. The devious grandfather of a little girl sends bounty hunters to find her. One of those bounty hunters gets more than he bargained for when he discovers the group in hiding.

No bad language, no sex, not much violence, and a nice love story with children involved. The characters were fun, even the bad guys. Some action moved the story along.

Excellent narration by Ms. McCulloh, although the little girl’s voice sounded too young, in my opinion. Good pacing and distinctive accents really helped.

This book is extremely interesting, adventurous and romantic at the same time . The characters are described so well you wish you could meet them personally. The thread of faith in the characters unites them and makes the reader want to apply that behavior in real life. This book is a must read for anyone who is interested in a good novel and an old-fashioned love story.
