James Petigru Boyce (1827 - 1888) was the founding President of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and also served as its first professor of Theology. His Abstract of Systematic Theology is a practical textbook for pastors and students.

A philosophical introduction on the science of theology is followed by 16 chapters devoted to the study of God. Boyce then proceeds to creation, providence, the fall of man, Christology, salvation, sanctification, and eschatology.

The work includes a survey of different atonement positions; Boyce accepts the Calvinistic view of particular redemption. In the doctrine of salvation, he treats election, reprobation, regeneration and conversion, repentance, faith, and justification.

I listened to the sample and thought I would be able to endure listening while I was also reading this great Systematic Theology. I just made the effort and can see that I wasted my money. This narrator uses a very feminine and fruity tone and it is obvious that he has no idea of the great words he is speaking about. I will continue to read without any narration. I only wish there was a way to return this and get another credit from Audible.

Excellent Systematic Theology-Horrible Narration

This is a wonderful book for theological study. Altogether solid in everything it covers. It is deep and may confuse new believers.
