Admiral Halsey's Story is the personal memoir of Fleet Admiral William F. "Bull" Halsey Jr., one of the most dynamic and influential naval commanders of World War II. Co-written with Lieutenant Commander J. Bryan III, the book offers a vivid, first-hand account of Halsey's experiences—from his early days in the U.S. Navy to his pivotal leadership in the Pacific Theater.

With a commanding voice and candid insights, Halsey recounts major battles such as Guadalcanal, Leyte Gulf, and the liberation of the Philippines, while also offering personal reflections on strategy, leadership, and the nature of war.

Rich with historical detail, maps, and photographs, this autobiography is both an important military record and a compelling portrait of a bold and unrelenting wartime commander.

Halsey was a hard driving man. Love him or hate him, he was tough and aggressive. So naturally the producers of this audio book chose a 20-something Gen-whatever’er with a somewhat feminine voice who struggles to pronounce words and frequently stumbles when speaking. The narrators voice would be great for 18th century French poetry, and YA novels,,,but for Bull Halsey? Unlistenable.

I don’t doubt the sincerity, but this performance was very poor, from stumbling over words, numerous mispronunciations, odd pauses and so on it made it difficult to follow. But I thank the author and narrator for bringing this man’s communications to life.

Poor performance
