Forty years after the publication of Eugene Sledge's memoir With the Old Breed at Peleliu and Okinawa comes The Old Breed... The Complete Story Revealed by Eugene's son, Henry, adding new material and immeasurable depth to his father's story.

The Old Breed... The Complete Story Revealed brings to life an abundance of new material from the original manuscript of Eugene Sledge's classic memoir With the Old Breed at Peleliu and Okinawa. By interspersing his own personal anecdotes throughout, Henry Sledge takes his father's work and gives it newfound context, sharing memories of conversations between father and son. The result is a flowing narrative that portrays an intimate look at a WWII veteran and his struggles to adapt to civilian life following the war.

Wonderful and compelling accompaniment to the original with added passages that didn't make it into With the Old Breed. And a full thoughtful personalized narration from his Sons perspective. I enjoyed it.

Good stuff many passages that didn't make the book

The author is the son of the original author that wrote the first book that made into a series called the Pactic. The authors takes his notes and finishes the story. I recommend the book.

Corporal Sledge's books about his experiences in the Pacific are among the best books of the era by far. This book, however, adds such depth to the books written by Eugene Sledge that make them all-the-more profound. What makes this book's icing on the cake is the personal relationship between a father and son that is reminiscent of my childhood being raised by a Pacific veteran myself. Semper Fi.

Well done! I am proud to know that there are humans in the world like the Sledge’s.

Great job!

Given my father’s service in the Marines, the author’s recollections of his father’s unpublished accounts are personally familiar. My father was never so revealing about his experience, at least not to me. But I’ve always loved my dad and all these men both for their service and their example. Semper Fi.
