“What if falling in love had infinite possibilities and multiple universes exist? A lyrical read that’s also fun as it addresses myriad truths.” —SLJ, starred review

“The story of a messy, normal life where connecting authentically with others is perilously hit-or-miss but worth the heartache for what you learn about yourself.” —Booklist, starred review

“Cleverly constructed. . . . Unfolds with surprising grace and ease.” —The Bulletin, starred review

Lockhart takes her penchant for plot twists to a new level, with a narrative that explores the idea of the multiverse. . . . An iterative feast of ideas about art, possibility, and the creative process for readers hungry for big concepts. Others will simply luxuriate in the storytelling.” —Publishers Weekly

“What begins as a typical YA romance becomes a thoughtful exploration of expectations. A subversive exploration of the diverging pathways of the human heart.—Kirkus Reviews

"An offbeat, philosophical love story for those who enjoy pondering the mysteries of the universe or the heart." —The Horn Book

“This surprising and charming YA novel explores one teenager’s existential angst about relationships-romantic, platonic, family and canine.” —Shelf Awareness

Because this book is written with multiple versions to scenarios, and because those scenarios pop up without a cue from the narrator, it sounds like glitches. I was so confused I had to quit listening and switch to reading it on my kindle. At least the multi-versions of events are written in a different font so you can figure out wtf is going on. The characters and the storyline are interesting, but the multiverse writing style ruined it for me.

E. Lockhart gets me. She writes from her heart this melancholic coming of age tone with a very feminine perspective. The heartbreak she creates and the vision her writing has, is something both relatable and beautiful to me. I’ve read her novel we were liars and now have heard this one. I will continue to be a fan. Please check her novels out!
