Daniel's story is one of extraordinary faith in God lived out at the pinnacle of executive power. It tells of four teenage friends, born in the tiny state of Judah about 26 centuries ago, but captured by Nebuchadnezzar, emperor of Babylon. Daniel describes how they eventually rose to the top echelons of administration. Daniel and his friends did not simply maintain their private devotion to God; they maintained a high-profile witness in a pluralistic society antagonistic to their faith. That is why their story has such a powerful message for us. Society tolerates the practice of Christianity in private and in church services, but it increasingly deprecates public witness. If Daniel and his compatriots were with us today they would be in the vanguard of the public debate. What was it that gave that ancient foursome, Daniel and his three friends, the strength and conviction to be prepared, often at great risk, to swim against the flow?

I love Lennox and looked forward to this book but the reader makes it impossible to listen to. I will have to get a paper copy. This reader makes this audible book miserable.

Great content, but I found the reader almost impossible to listen to. Sounded like he was trying to emote to the extreme the entire time. Had to quit listening after the first half hour or so……

Good content, difficult narration

John Lennox under takes and does as fantastic job of explaining the Book of Daniel. Laying out the histories and the prophecies in a very understandable and coherent fashion. He tackles all issues laid out concerning Daniel’s place in canonical scripture and defends this position well Biblical prophecy is two fold in nature. A forth telling of current or near current events but it is also a fore telling of future events. Daniel has the courage to stand against the flow of society and that carries a lot o weight in our current affairs. O

Lennox at his best

As much as I’m interested in what the author has to say, I cannot get past the readers performance. I have no doubt he is well suited for other types of books, just not this one.

The content is interesting,

The first 5 chapters show that God is greater than any human power by protecting Daniel’s 3 friends through the fire and then protecting Daniel from the mouths of hungry lions.
The last part shows God knows the future by describing —in great detail — what would happen long after Daniel was dead.

Confirming that God knows the future
