Anna and Jim Nolte retire to a remote Alaskan cabin after growing completely disillusioned with people and society in general. The cabin was constructed as a hunting and fishing lodge catering to people who wanted to fly in to a remote location, but not sacrifice their luxuries like indoor plumbing. Anna and Jim are soul mates and preppers to the core living a subsistence lifestyle where Jim could hunt and trap to his heart’s content. Even in remote Alaska, they are confronted with an EMP attack on the lower 48 and the uncertainty of knowing what will happen next.

This story was unusual in that it was a short story instead of a full book, and the story line was a little different from the usual dystopian story lines. However, it was a refreshing and entertaining break. I’m new to the computer generated voice and still getting use to it. I didn’t like the computer generated voice as well as a real person speaking. But, again, on balance it was a worthwhile story to listen to.
