Jack and Cassie Scott are fed up with people and politics after long tiring careers. Now facing retirement, they decide to search for an off grid property where they can reconnect and live out their years free from the tentacles of modern day society. They get lucky and find an affordable property in Maine where they plan to amplify their conservative prepper lifestyle in a location that might actually be survivable. Although interrupted by deteriorating world events, they manage to relocate before the world completely falls apart. In the process, they discover that their property conceals a huge secret that will someday save their lives.
