A lightning-strike dispatch of hilarious, intimate, luminous essays from the brain (and voice!) of Emmy Award-nominated actress and writer Betty Gilpin.

Oh. Hi. *takes six long gulps of water during which you’re like, may I help you?*

My name is Betty. I have depression. I have passion. I have tits the size of printers. And also: I have a brain full of women.

There’s Blanche VonFuckery, Ingrid St. Rash, and a host of others—some cowering in sweatpants, some howling plans for revolution, and one, oh God, and one . . . slowly vomiting up a crow? Worried for her. These women take turns at the wheel. That’s why I feel like a million selves. With a raised eyebrow and a soul-scalpel, I’d like to tell you how I got this way. Because maybe you feel this way too.

Let’s hop from wild dissections of modern womanhood to boarding school musings to the glossy cringe of Hollywood. Let’s laugh at my failures and then quietly hope with me for the dream. Whether that dream is love or liberation or enough IMDB credits to taze the demon snapping at my ankles, we won’t know until the shit-fanning end.

As a dear friend said after listening to this audiobook, it’s “either a masterpiece, or it’s…completely…” and then she glazed over into a haunted stare. Listener? This audiobook is my opus and it is chaos.

If you’ve ever felt like you were more, or at least weirder, than the world expected—welcome to All the Women in My Brain.

Deeply personal & thoroughly cry laugh enjoyable. If you were the kind of kid, after eyeing your high school crush in the hallways, proceeded to overthink what to say for so long that when the perfect ice breaker finally popped into your head you looked up to realize they had walked away minutes earlier and you were now late for gym class…. Betty’s life story is for you. I say this as a straight, white, middle aged dude with a little bit of loved, lost and life under my belt. If you enjoy the company of funny, smart friends, this is like spending a long evening over dinner and drinks with an old and best one as she peels back the layers beneath the porn poodle surface of studying for and working in stage, screen and television (all will be explained in due time). Enjoy the hang…friend.

Come along, and take a journey through your fellow extroverted introvert’s brain!

Easily one of my favorite memoirs I have ever read, and certainly one of the best I’ve ever listened to. The author’s humor, deprecation, vulnerability, honesty, and metaphors had me laughing, crying, and empathizing throughout. Betty Gilpin’s narration made it feel like talking to a very funny, thoughtful friend.

Man this book was the therapy I didn’t know I needed. I listened to it whilst staying in a cabin in the mountains alone n snowed in thinking it was going to be a fun way to fill the silence for a day. I had no idea that this book was going to speak to my soul in the way it did (ok dramatic I know but it really did). It was like sitting down with that one girlfriend who can see right through the facade that you plaster on for the outside world. This book hit me like a freight train n then asked my demons out on a play date. This is the kind of honesty women need out there…to know that it’s ok to not have all the answers…or your sh*t together…to be terrified daily…to not feel good enough…but it’s also the firm kick up the arse you need to go celebrate you…to live in the moment n cherish the little things…to courageously step out there n let your freak flag fly as…not to quote a One Direction song but…that’s what makes you beautiful! There I did it…I perfectly aged myself with that reference….urgh. Anyways…if you are feeling lost n need a comforting hug in book form then this is it.

It’s perfect! I’ve never enjoyed anything more. Listening to Betty’s brain women from her actual brain was a joy.
