Great story that I had never heard, like the way the author told layers of Japanese history, with the Herst story.

American woman is a story a daughter challenged with belonging, isolation , otherness and cultural conflict. It has high- stakes drama, conflict and historical elements all woven in a beautiful quilt . Characters are deep and multidimensional . It is also rich with elements of family love, conflict and loss

Narrator ruins book

This is a well written book. Emily Woo Zeller ruined it for me every time she narrated a male voice.
