MC are too pathetic

i Have tried with this series until book 7, but not sure I can go on. Tabitha & Wolf are spineless and pathetic when it comes to the dowager. I am sick of them letting her get away with murder, when there is a murder being investigated. She is awful and I can't stand how these 2 are taking such obnoxious behaviour from someone they don't actually have to entertain in their lives. They are rich , powerful, and connected...why do they have to allow these circumstances.Neither of them have any obligation to the dowager, but can't tell her to go away.
If they can't deal with her , I can't keep engaged by them having the heart to chase down and catch killers. It does not make sense. It is just more of the same problem with our society..the most awful people get what they want and good people are so spineless to let them . Tabitha and wolf are doormats , and I can't keep reading about a petty nuisance that gets what ever she wants. It's too much like our terrible reality.
