Prince Enlin has sought respite alone in his cabin when a knock at his door puts a woman who has lost her memory in his care. Before he can determine what to do with her, his men arrive and a betrothal is forced upon them.

Prince Enlin cannot marry, for he carries the secret of a prophecy that if he ever does, his beloved Kingdom will fall. Breeon, though she barely remembers more than her name, insists marriage for her is forbidden.
