When Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert of Green Gables, Prince Edward Island, send for a boy orphan to help them out at the farm, they are in no way prepared for the error that will change their lives. The mistake takes the shape of Anne Shirley, a redheaded 11-year-old girl who can talk anyone under the table. Fortunately, her sunny nature and quirky imagination quickly win over her reluctant foster parents. Anne's feisty spirit soon draws many friends - and much trouble - her way.

Montgomery wrote the novel in the twilight of the day, sitting at her window and overlooking the fields of Cavendish. Since publication, Anne of Green Gables has sold more than 50 million copies.

This is a very interesting entertaining story, I highly recommend it. I wish it had not ended so soon and followed her life longer.

Anne (with an e) comes as an orphan girl to the Cuthbert home and finds her imaginings come to full bloom. She finds love among kindred spirits and a real home in Avonlea.

I love this book! that being said the narrator has a very odd speech pattern and this was very distracting!

You have a well developed storyline with believable, interesting and likeable characters. The narrator does a good job mainting interest. You have Anne an orphan who accidentally gets adopted instead of a boy they ordered. you go through her mistakes and problems of growing up. It shows silly things young kids can do and how they can learn from mistakes. I loved how she learned from her mistakes and grew up to be a respected young lady. I would recommend this classic to all teenagers and adults. This is a must read.

A Great Entertaining Must Read
