The New Year's slaughter has left the country of Greifsburg in turmoil. A new army of mindless, soldier class clone gryphons have been released into the world with, what our gryphon band believes, no direction or commands. However, two gryphon, Yama and Zero, are different than the rest of their cloned comrades. Not only is their appearance different than the others, but they have faint memories of what it was like before their conversion.

Yama and Zero command their own platoon of gryphon soldiers to overtake a small town in Austria, but as for what is next remains to be seen. When Yama visits Greifsburg in search of answers, she ends up with more questions of her past and a newfound direction to run the leaderless country. With neighbors at war and the loss of a loved one, Thyra, Aadhya, Rachel, and Anfang must work together to overcome the difficulties of their new reality.

When I started this series, I expected very little. And while the start of book 1 didn't hook me as strong, its only been uphill from there. I listen to these books while I'm at work and lemme tell ya, I've had coworkers looking at me, noticing my shocked expressions during this one! This latest chapter is FILLED with surprises, dark twists, and thrilling action! If you fell in love with the characters in the previous books, prepared to be on the edge of your seats for this one.

Same as the previous books, the James Scott Spaid has brilliant range in between each character that its easy to identify who he's speaking for. I hate that I listened to it so quickly, because now I'm eager to get into book 5!

Each book just keeps getting more interesting!
