Amid the beauty of Charleston, not all is as it seems.

When her husband Liam is killed by a car bomb while their Celtic band is on tour in Charleston, singer and Irish beauty Alanna doesn’t quite know where to turn. Her father-in-law is threatening to take custody of the baby she carries, but Alanna knows she can’t lose the only piece of Liam she has left.

Alanna’s manager offers her a marriage of convenience to obtain U.S. citizenship and allow her to escape her father-in-law’s control. It seems like the perfect solution until she arrives at the family home of her new husband—a decaying mansion with more questions than answers.

Strange things begin happening that threaten Alanna’s life and the life of her child. Are they merely coincidences? Or is something more sinister at work?

A mysterious painting, a haunting melody, and a love stronger than death leave Alanna questioning where darkness ends and light begins.

Critic reviews

'...the strength of the atmospheric setting and a romance with a divine touch carry the story with ease. The nod to Celtic music adds a beautiful layer to this suspenseful tale of love lost and found.'
'Coble crafts a multifaceted plot with intricate tangles and turns. Her characters are believable and expose the stark difference between obsession and sacrificial love.'
'Fans of Coble’s romantic suspense novels, as well as those who enjoy Irish music, will appreciate this sweet standalone’s backstage view of Ceol, a four-woman Celtic band, founded by Alanna Connolly, a beautiful red-haired Irish singer.'
“For a psychological fiction novel as pure escapism from reality, this one is a good choice .'

Would you listen to Because You're Mine again? Why?

Yes...now that I know the outcome I won't have a heart attack....It was a great book.

What did you like best about this story?

The undying love of the main character...also, I love most things Irish.

What about Devon O'Day’s performance did you like?

I love her style. One of my favorite narrators. Loved her Irish accent. Not crazy about some of the men's "voices" ...but, by in large, I love Devon O'Day...have several audible books by her.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Probably not.

Any additional comments?

My only problem was I kept picturing the characters in mid 1800's rather than present day..since a lot of the story is taking place in an old mansion/plantation type setting my mind kept seeing them in civil war period type clothing, etc...then the narration would talk about the cars (Mercedes) etc...and I would snap back to present day... The drama was so intense at times my chest was hurting...very emotional and scary....almost as scary, at times, as Abomination by the same author, Colleen Coble.

Heart stopping thriller!

don't want to give the story away too much...but two men are in a horrible accident. one survived, but supposedly w/ amnesia....he is able to do everything but remember his past. The most odd part is that while he believes he is one man he looses the accent he had all his life and adopts that man's accent and suddenly he recalls who he really is and starts using his own accent again. Pretty ridiculous.

not at all believable

If you are a Colleen Coble fan you won’t be disappointed!! I love everything she writes! I hope she is busy writing more now. Love that her characters keep their eye on God, even though they struggle they find their way back to their faith. Love reading a book without smut!
