Although I've been betting on horses for years, it was usually during the Triple Crown and Breeders' Cup. I now have a new found love for the sport. The enormity of the care that goes into the horses, jockeys, stable workers, broadcasters, wagering outlets, and prep work for each race Is astounding. What makes horse racing unique is this is done year round at various tracks unlike other sports that are only seasonal. I have not been to the Fair Grounds in 40 years and finally I took my son and we had a great time. Many people were there with family members. Horse racing is great to share with family and friends. This book gave me the knowledge to continue my love for horse racing.

Excellent explanations!!

I listened to this book before my very first time at a horse track, and I’m very glad I did. I’ve been a very casual horse racing viewer (i.e., I watch the Triple Crown on TV every year) and I occasionally place a sports bet… but the extent of my horse racing handicapping was picking the horse’s name that I liked the most. Thanks to this book, when I showed up for afternoon of “playing the ponies,” I knew the lay of the land at the track, the basics of what bets can be made and what that means, and also implemented several handicapping strategies explained in the book. It would have been like visiting another planet without having the info this book provided me in advance. I plan to listen a few more times, particularly the chapters on advanced handicapping, before I go to the Kentucky Derby in May. I’m glad I found this resource.

Very Helpful for a First-Time Pony Player
