In the future, in a world baked dry by the harsh sun, there are those who live inside the wall and those, like 16-year-old midwife, Gaia Stone, who live outside. Gaia has always believed it is her duty, with her mother, to hand over a small quota of babies to the Enclave. But when Gaia's mother and father are arrested by the very people they so dutifully serve, Gaia is forced to question everything she has been taught to believe. Gaia's choice is now simple: Enter the world of the Enclave to rescue her parents, or die trying.

The book is great. i rrad it many years ago and enjoyed thr audiobook. Love to see reproductive rights being discussed. The narrator mispronounces many words, which is a bit grating. otherwise a worthwhile listen

Aside from mispronunciations, worthwhile.

I have read both the first and second books in this series now and I can't really explain what I like most. The best way I can put it is it's crazy how everything moves so fast in these books and how these stories progress. You're going to have to listen to it to understand. It's not like any other book I've ever read.

The book may have turned out a bit better if they followed with each topic a little longer. It was a bit scattered.

Many plot twists
