The Romano Family rescued me from being sold like cattle, but I’m afraid I’ve exchanged one prison for another.

Only this time, my heart isn’t safe from my captor.

And they have no idea who I’m running from.

Diece is the right-hand man to the most powerful family in the Italian Mafia.

He’s ruthless, brutal, and has been tasked with protecting me after I stuck my neck out for his boss.

That doesn’t mean I trust him, though.

Against my will, Diece whisks me away under the guise of keeping me safe, but I’m not about to exchange one prison for another.

When he finds out what I’ve been through at the hands of my previous captor, he begs me to let my guard down.

To let him in.

But if I do, he’ll find out the truth, and I can’t let that happen. Not just for me, but for his safety, too.

He says he won’t let anyone hurt me.

He has no idea who I’m running from.

Contains sensitive subjects that may be offensive to some listeners. Intended for listeners 18+.

When I started this series, I didn't know that I would love it as much as I did.
These characters are amazing, and their stories are gripping.
This is Q and D's story, and you will love them. I love the softer side of D that you get to see.

I am totally invested in this story, and the way it unfolded was amazing. You get some suspense with it. And you will be on the edge of your seat.

Please listen to the audio. Corvin King could not be a better D. He slayed it with this book. I was hooked from the first words spoke in this book.
I haven't listened to many that Mauve York has done, but she is so good in this one. I enjoyed the way she portrayed Q in this book.

I would not read this as a standalone. You need to read these books in order to get the full story.

I read the first two books about Ace and Kingston, skipped Little Bird, and went straight for this book. I’ll probably go back, but I wanted to know Q, aka Queena’s story. The MMC, Diece, was so patient with her! He didn't think he was good enough, only to learn he was exactly what she wanted. There were OTT and WTF moments, but it kept me engaged to know their HFN.

Dark Mafia Romance

I mostly enjoyed this story, but I was irritated by the male narrator and it distracted from the story. He over pronounced words, adding in extra vowels and h’s. Example; “thinking” was pronounced as “theeeeeinking” or “progrhesss” (progress).
It was lazy, breathy and obnoxious.

For me it gave poor Deice “half-stoned frat douche” vibes… which is not at all Mafia Made-Man energy.

Female narrator was great! And the story line is pretty solid (a bit predictable but overall good)!

I like that the last two books didn’t end as abruptly as the first, the storylines from book to book are beginning to mesh really well and I think this is where the author really gets into her stride!

Looking forward to the next book in the series! (Thankfully a different male narrator!!)

Male Narrator was… not great.

I loved everything about this audiobook except the male narrator’s voice. I felt like he was talking too slow and forcing the deep voice. It took me a bit to get into it in the middle and I thought about not finishing the audiobook several times due to his reading.

Love the storyline!!!!

I had such a hard time following the male narrator in this book. I found myself spacing out while he read and had to restart his chapters multiple times. It felt like he was trying too hard to be mysterious.

Love the story line
